Matthew 18: 2 ~ 7
And Jesus called a little child unto Him,
and set him in the midst of them,
And said, Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted, and become as little children,
ye shall not enter into The Kingdom of Heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child,
the same is greatest in The Kingdom of Heaven.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in My Name receiveth Me.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me,
it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck,
and that he were drowned in the depth of the Sea.
Woe unto the world because of offences!
for it must needs be that offences come;
but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!
The dear Lord Jesus Christ, God Himself ~ has already done more than His part with humanity. The rest is up to us. And, like anything in this life, we get out of our 'relationship with Him', exactly what we put in. No more; no less! We each follow our own heart, make our own choices. God Himself gave us that free choice because He believed in the good of His own creation, i.e. man, to win out over whatever would try to take precedence in our life. This said in preface to this message, I encourage you to look within your own heart. See who is there and how much. See what is there and fully grasp hold of The Eternal for yourself. It is what Jesus Christ purchased for you personally, by shedding His own pure and Precious Blood. He loved you this much!
Matthew 16: 26, 27 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For The Son of man shall come in the Glory of His Father with His Angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works.
Thessalonians 1: 6 ~ 10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty Angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with Everlasting destruction from the Presence of The Lord, and from the Glory of His power; When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe.... in that day.
1 Peter 3: 10 ~ 13 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew (shun, avoid) evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the Eyes of The Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of The Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
Isaiah 35: 3 ~ 10 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a Recompence; He will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
And an Highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the Redeemed shall walk there: And the Ransomed of The Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and Everlasting Joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
1 Peter 1: 24, 25 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But The Word of The Lord endureth Forever. And this is The Word which by The Gospel is preached unto you.
Hebrews 11: 6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 10: 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
Matthew 6 (paraphrased) When you give your alms ~ and do your fastings and praying ~ do so between you and God alone from your heart, with the motive of heart being only for His Eyes and pleasure. Then, He shall see and reward you openly.
But, if you tell others what you have done or are doing with your giving, is it not for the praise of man? And, if you tell how much you fast and pray, is it not the motive of your heart to be lauded by man as some great holy one? Motive of the heart in doing such is for man's approval, praise and acceptance; not, for God alone.
If this is the case, it is the only 'reward' you shall have.
On the other hand, if you do in secret between you and God alone, your alms giving, fasting and praying, He is pleased by your show of love to Him and shall reward you openly. Motive of the heart is seen here. Flesh...or Spirit? (See Matthew 6 to read the details of each of these)
Hebrews 10: 30, 31 For we know Him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto Me, I will Recompense, saith The Lord. And again, The Lord shall Judge His people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of The Living God.
Revelation 22: 12 ~ 17 And, behold, I come quickly; and My Reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I AM Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and The End, The First and The Last. Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have Right to The Tree of Life, and may enter in through the Gates into The City.
For without are dogs, (unbelievers who are uncircumcised in heart and ears) and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
I Jesus have sent Mine Angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I AM The Root and The Offspring of David, and The Bright and Morning Star. And The Spirit and the Bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take The Water of Life freely.
Colossians 3: 23, 24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to The Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of The Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve The Lord Christ.
Luke 14: 13, 14 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be Blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at The Resurrection of the just.
2 Samuel 22: 24 ~ 27 I was also upright before Him, and have kept myself from mine iniquity. Therefore The Lord hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in His Eye sight. With the merciful Thou wilt shew Thyself merciful, and with the upright man Thou wilt shew Thyself upright. With the pure Thou wilt shew Thyself pure; and with the froward Thou wilt shew Thyself unsavoury.
1 Thessalonians 5: 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Proverbs 26: 10 The Great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
Proverbs 11: 18, 19 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward. As righteousness tendeth to Life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
Proverbs 20: 11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
Proverbs 11: 31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
Proverbs 24: 11, 12 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not He that pondereth the heart consider it? and He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it? and shall not He render to every man according to his works?
Psalms 19: 9 ~ 11 The fear of The Lord is clean, enduring Forever: the Judgments of The Lord are True and Righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
Job 11: 11 For the work of a man shall He render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
Proverbs 12: 14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the Recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
Luke 6: 35, 36 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your Reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of The Highest: for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is Merciful.
In closing, there are so very many texts that refer to justice, just recompense, reward, render, sowing and reaping accordingly, etc. I've touched upon just a few to bring focus on the fact that we each should and can expect Father God to return to us individually, exactly as we have exhibited where our heart truly is ~ to Him and man.
I encourage you to take a good concordance to study in depth on this subject.
