DAILY BREAD ~ No. 1
~ What Is In Your Hand? ~
Exodus 4: 1 ~ 5
" And Moses answered and said,
But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice:
for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee.
And The Lord said unto him,
What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
And He said, Cast it on the ground.
(Do something with it! Use what you already have.)
And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent;
and Moses fled from before it.
And The Lord said unto Moses,
Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail.
And he put forth his hand, and caught it,
and it became a rod in his hand:
That they may Believe that The Lord God of their fathers,
The God of Abraham, The God of Isaac, and The God of Jacob,
HAS appeared unto thee. "
In studying about Moses, we see two main threads woven throughout:
1. Moses open-heartedly believed in God's Words to him, and came to realize God Almighty was in control. That God had His own plans He would manifest concerning whatever, whomever, wherever and whenever He chose to; and,
2. Moses became quickly courageous in obeying ~ His Heavenly Father's Voice, no matter what the outcome would be to himself and the people.
Result? His mission was accomplished.
Why? Because he'd learned to submit all facets of himself over unto God.
He embraced the fact that God's ways are better than ours.
Prior to those 40 years alone with God in the Wilderness,
God could not trust Moses to do what He had been born to do in his Divine Destiny.
His mind needed changed.
His will needed to learn to be harnessed by God, no matter what.
His human spirit had to become pliable in The Master's Divine Hand.
God Himself was working Divinity out inside of Moses by using his circumstances.
God got him alone 40 years in the Wilderness in order to forge 'change' in Moses.
God was preparing him for what He would require of him up ahead.
Moses was in God's school now~
This ~ was an 'educating' that the finest of schools he'd attended
were not able to give him.
His 'vocation' was not that of man,
but of God Almighty.
Moses was learning to hear, trust in and quickly obey God's Voice.
In doing so,
he became the Divine Instrument of God
to bring Judgment on Pharaoh and Egypt,
as well as to Deliver
God's Chosen people from cruel, agonizing bondage.
A Liberator, Deliverer in partnership with God.
His former feelings of insecurity that Moses needlessly possessed in his earlier years,
were re-placed.
He'd grown to recognize and quickly submit himself toThe Voice of God.
He had to Trust God for everything all those years in the wilderness.
Trust ~ was made a permanent part of his inner man with God and
would remain inside of him for the rest of his life.
Repeatedly, he went to Pharaoh with 'Thus saith The Lord'.
Despite the fact ~ that when God told him what to say to Pharaoh,
He told Moses too ~ that He had hardened Pharaoh's heart
so that he would not obey Moses ~
Moses still did what our Lord directed of him, always.
Thus, Divine Intervention,
so that the people would see and come to believe that God Himself
was in charge of everyone and everything.
The various plagues that came down from Heaven suddenly in Divine Intervention,
and then leaving just as miraculously
when Pharaoh repented and Moses prayed...
...Would cause everyone to 'consider their own belief system and Eternity'
.. and God!
There is much we learn from reading and thinking on God's Word.
There are lessons we should learn from their shortcomings and unbelief and disciplines,
so that we don't go down some of the same mistaking, destructive paths.
Faithful...to God.
To you dear reader, what is that in 'your' hand?
What are you ~ doing ~ with it?
Are you passing on His Truths of His Only Begotten Son and His Holy Word?
Faithful stewards we are to put to Godly use what we know and have.
God's Spirit waters God-seeds that we sow into hearts.
Use what you already have.
Use what is in your personality for Him and souls.
Use what talents, knowledge, wisdom, gifts you possess...
for Him and souls...out into the world.
Be faithful to Him in doing so.
What is that in your....hand?
